I started my Postpartum Doula Business Journey in November 2020. I started by taking the Postpartum Doula Training, then the Newborn Care Specialist Training and completed my certification as a Postpartum Doula thru C.A.P.P.A. I've worked for several agencies to get experience and get my foot in the door all while taking private clients and now 2nd time private clients. Because I love to cook and bake, I enjoy bringing treats or sometimes a small meal to my clients, who doesn't love that?!:)
I was born in Homestead FL and have lived in FL, CT, and RI.
I am the youngest of 10 children and the "OURS" of a Yours, Mine and Ours Family.
When I was 11 months old, I fell from top bunk of bunkbed where I was with one of my sisters. I fell onto a cement floor and needed emergency brain surgery. I had a compressed fracture, bones pressing on my brain and received 50 stitches. The surgeon said if I had been a minute later to hospital, I would have been a "vegetable". Amazingly enough, I have had no repercussions.
I was allowed 1 hour of TV a day after school, and I most often chose Little House on the Prairie.
I played volleyball in high school, played a town league in my early 20's and coached at my alma mater, Torrington Christian Academy.
I was 9 days late when delivering our daughter. I so wanted to let her come when she was ready and not be induced. For safety of all, my midwife soon put together a plan of induction, wrote out how it would go if I didn't have her by a certain date. This scenario made me so upset and anxious. I began every trick in the book, so to speak, walking more, the obvious well -known tricks, and also raspberry leaf tea, and castor oil, which truly is THE WORST, HA, so gross, but thankfully she came on her own 9 days late.
As a child I always wanted to be a teacher. My husband and I shared the role of teacher in homeschooling our daughter K-12.
I was a Creative Memories Consultant for many years and have completed 20+ albums.
I play the piano and love music, baking, cooking, people, white lights, front porches and Jesus.
I met my husband at a Bible study. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary September 2023.
I always wanted a large family. We were blessed with Naomi Lynae and 12 years later, we were shocked to be pregnant with our second. We were surprised, yet super excited after waiting so long. Sadly we lost that sweet baby at 9 weeks. I've always said, God knew He was giving us one daughter, so he loaded her up with a little bit of everything, she's sassy, sweet, super fun, dramatic, musical, artistic, personable, caring, strong willed and very determined. I wouldn't have her any other way!!
Our daughter was married June 2023 to her homeschool high school sweetheart.
I've traveled to Bermuda, Canada, France, Italy and Dominican Republic.
